Most of the red tea (cay) grown along the lush and rugged banks of Turkey’s Black Sea remain in the country where the Turkish people consume up to 25 cups per person per day! We love to steep this tea traditionally in a stacked Turkish teapot (caydanlik), but it is just as delicious steeped in you favorite teapot.
Organic Red Tea from Rize, Turkey
Steep 1 teaspoon of Turkish Red Tea in 1 cup (8oz) of boiling water for 5 minutes and strain. Add sugar if you like.
Caydanlik style: Steep 3 teaspoons of Turkish Red Tea in 1 cup (8oz) of water for 5 minutes. Pour between ¼ and ½ cup of this strong tea in each person’s tea glass and then fill the cup the rest of the way with hot water, to taste. Add sugar if you like.
