Iced Chai Latte Recipe

Chai is a Firepot tradition on which we’ve built a legacy of quality, taste, and the perfect blend of whole organic hand-blended spices. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. You often think of a warm steaming mug of chai to keep you warm in the summer...but don’t miss the chance to add ice and enjoy those decadent masala spices in the heat of the summer! Iced chai lattes on a warm summer day are a refreshing way to relax, refresh and renew.

Firepot Chai’s classic masala blend includes ingredients like organic cinnamon, cardamom, coriander, ginger, black peppercorn and cloves. It’s just the right mix of spices to bring our organic black tea to life! In fact, it’s so popular we added Yerba Mate Chai to the Firepot family of Chai blends.

“Chai” is a common translation of the Hindi word “chāy” simply meaning “tea”. When we say Chai Tea, we are referring to a beverage from the Indian subcontinent where people have for ages boiled local spices with black tea, milk and sugar. In India, the word for tea is chai, so when the first Westerners who traveled to India and fell in love with this popular street food returned home, they told stories of a famed tea called chai.

More accurately, they were drinking Masala Chai. “Masala” is a Hindi word meaning “spice mix” so “Masala Chai” loosely means spiced tea. Whether you call it chai tea, masala chai or just chai, it is a delicious blend of mixed spices boiled with black tea, milk and sugar.

To make your own iced chai latte at home, we’ve provided the recipe here. It’s the perfect respite on a warm summer day.
