Who doesn't look forward to apple harvest every fall? One particular aspect of fall that we love is an opportunity to share hot apple cider as an accouterment to an after-dinner dessert. It's warm and comforting, and the aroma of hot apples, cinnamon, and spices permeating throughout the house is, to us anyway, the scent of joy and friendship. Our proprietary spice blend makes the process of creating the perfect mug of hot mulled apple cider easy and intuitive. By blending in almonds and dried cherries into the pot as you heat your cider and spice mixture adds a dimension to the flavor that your tastebuds will thank you for. Then, if you're feeling a bit spirited, blend in a jigger of your favorite cognac or brandy!
½ gallon (8 cups) apple cider
1 cup dried cherries
2 Tbsp Firepot Mulling Spices
½ cup honey
1 oz of cognac or brandy (optional)
1. Place all items in a heavy sauce or soup pot.
2. Bring to a simmer and steep for at least 10 minutes.
3. If desired, add one ounce of brandy or cognac per cup for a hot toddy.
